You can see that the road
section of the bridge has now been widened, but the original piers can
still be seen. You can also still see the building shown in the 1842 Map
at the bridge end, but it is now alongside what is today's Cottage and
note the old 'Smithy', but is the 'Smithy' the smaller or larger of the
buildings to the right of the cottage. The boys school is no longer mentioned,
as 'Thomlinsons' school has now been built. See next section.
