Bowel
Cancer Screening programme

NORTHUMBRIA
Healthcare has
started a life-saving programme which will see people in
Northumberland, Newcastle and North Tyneside screened for bowel
cancer. |
Over
the next two years men and women aged between 60 and 69 and who
are registered with a GP, will be invited to take part in the
bowel cancer screening programme.
They will be sent a simple test kit to use in the privacy of their
home.
Those aged 70 and over can request a test kit by calling freephone
0800 7076060.

Securing
water for the future
Environment
Secretary Hilary Benn, said today as he launched the
Government’s water strategy for England, 'Future
Water'
Mr Benn said:
“The independent review will assess the effectiveness and
fairness of different methods of charging, including metering and
tariffs, and make recommendations. Our current system of charging,
based largely on the value of people’s homes 35 years ago, is
archaic and rife with anomalies. We need a fairer system
that offers incentives to conserve water ...........
"
