Bus fares rise

Bus fares will increase from Sunday, 6 April.
There are some exceptions, but fares generally will increase as follows :-
10p on fares under £1.50
20p on fares from £1.50 to £3.80
Fares above £3 will be simplified to £3, £3.50 or £4, although many are unchanged
.
All single fares will be in multiples of 10p for simplicity and speed. Day Returns will also increase.
We still offer exceptional value for money and frequent travellers will be delighted to know we have no current plans to increase our fare-saver schemes, BuzzFare, Get Around or Transfares

Affordable Housing

March/April 2008

Locals can register for affordable housing

Do you dream of owning your own home but wake up to the nightmare of ever increasing property prices?
DO you live and work locally but don't want to rent privately or from the council?
Are you an older homeowner looking for sheltered housing?

If the answer is YES to any of these questions you may qualify to be included on Alnwick District Council's Homeseekers Register.

Residents who wish to purchase or rent local affordable housing need to apply to the council to have their names put on an affordable housing register.
The purpose of the register is to help ensure that affordable housing being built for sale or for rent around the district is allocated to local people who need it most. To be included on it, applicants must be 18 years of age and over, and demonstrate both a genuine housing need and close connections to the local area.

For further information contact :- Alnwick District Council on tel: 01665 510505, or log on to www.alnwick.qov.uk and download the information online.

This scheme is separate from, and not to be confused with the waiting list for council or housing association properties.

March/April 2008

From April 2008 there will be a dramatic expansion of patient choice in the NHS.
The introduction of free choice next month means that patients referred to see a specialist will themselves be able to choose where they are treated from any hospital that meets NHS standards.
